Using the sigma 10 - 20mm lens at the wide end offers impact to an image especially where there is a degree of symmetry to the scene. This shot looking across Wast Water toward Middle Fell and Yewbarrow is a perfect example of what I like to achieve using this technique. With the camera back facing below the horizontal brings in the near foreground this extends the perspective and adds bounding to the edges. At F.22 a lot of lenses will suffer from softening at the extremes but coupled with the Canon EOS 550d the balance shows little degradation through the small aperture and the focus can be concentrated on the rippled surface of the water without losing the crisp sharpness of the background had I been using one of the more up to date higher resolution camera bodies things may have work out different .A 1-6th of a second exposure meant setting the camera atop of a sturdy tripod but all serious landscape photographers do this as a matter of course. A long subtle ND grad keeps the heavenly highlights in check and keeps the mood sombre in this one of my favourite lake district photographs
