Location
At the Makiti Family Restaurant & Waffle House, Kromdraai valley, Krugersdorp, Gauteng, South Africa. A lovely, rustic outdoorsy-type restaurant located within our UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Cradle of Humankind.Time
While my friends and I were having the BEST waffles for lunch on a warm February afternoon, this little fella walked in to the restaurant, said hello to all the patrons and made himself comfortable on the windowsill, next to our table.Lighting
I was lucky to have him choose his spot "purrfectly" to allow for natural light to fall on his face! For being this lucky, in return, I did have to tell my friends to "suck it up... I'm going for it!", let go of my dignity and get down on all fours between the tables, full of patrons, to get the shot!Equipment
Canon EOS 70D (no flash, no tripod) Sigma 18-250mm focal 128mm ƒ/8 1/250s ISO 8000Inspiration
It was very spur of the moment! Camera was there, stunning cat model (who couldn't be bothered by all my clicking in his face), perfect light and a relaxing atmosphere! I could not resist!Editing
I did very little post-processing. In Photoshop CC, I cropped the image, fine-tuned the exposure and light levels, increased the vibrance & saturation a bit and lastly, sharpened the fur a bit.In my camera bag
In my "go-bag" i have my Canon EOS 70D, my trusty Sigma 18-250mm lens and an extra camera battery.Feedback
Take the shot! Even if it is in the middle of a restaurant full of people! Even if your friends protest..."it's JUST a cat!" If you see it and it looks like a perfect shot, take it!
