The photo was taken at a friend's wedding on the beach at Goddard Park in Rhode Island. This was a big learning curve for me as I am new to the wedding photographer industry.Time
This is probably my favorite shot of the event. These two kids were characters - and you can see it in this shot. This was the moment the bride and groom cut the cake. The bride and groom were hesitant to break out the sweets, but I am glad they did! This photo was taken right at sunset.Lighting
The sunset this evening was incredible. I really wanted to capture the warmth of the late Spring day. This photo was taken right as the sun was setting, about 45º from where I was standing.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D7000 with a 40mm lens, 3.2f stop. No flash or tripod.Inspiration
I am so inspired by children - creative, caring, playful, adventurous, fearless, expressive. I think biting into this cupcake was the best part of the evening for these guys.Editing
Just a few touch ups on their faces with the spot-healing brush. In my camera bag
I always pack my 50mm 1.4 prime lens - though this photo was not shot with that lens - it is my go-to. It creates an absolutely beautiful bokeh. I love love love details, so my 40mm 2.8G macro lens is always hanging tight in my bag as well.Feedback
When you are taking photos at sunset, stay later than you anticipate. Beautiful things happen after the sun has gone down - and I think you will be pleasantly surprised! Play around with different lighting angles and have fun! My best images come when I am relaxed, having fun and being creative with light.
