A Prairie Rattlesnake near Leader Saskatchewan Canada. I used a 400mm lens to get this shot, the minimum focusing distance to the center of this lens is 38'', just outside the likely strike range of this snake. They use their forked tongues to smell the air, and this one was probably smelling my new lens!
