A friend texted me Sunday Morning saying the sunrise might look nice. I work in Northern Saskatchewan and this is the first time I've seen the sun in 6 weeks with a camera in my hand. Its been very cloudy. I grabbed my running shoes, a jacket, my camera and a tripod. I should have brought socks, gloves, a hat, winter boots and a winter coat, or one that could zip up. But I didn't. It was -22C, -30c with the windchill. I was very happy to see this animal trail that lined up with the tree and sun!

Location
4 miles North West of Leader Saskatchewan, where I live. I used to walk my dog down the gravel road that is adjacent to these trees.Time
Just at Sunrise. These were the first pictures I took in 2016.Lighting
I really like the way the sun lights up a snow covered scene at sunrise or sunset.Equipment
Canon 6D, 16-35mm F2.8 USM II on a Milano carbon fiber tripod.Inspiration
I work in the North for a week at a time, it had been weeks since I had seen the sun. A friend texted me to say the sunrise might be nice. I grabbed my shoes, a coat that does not zip up. I should have put on socks, gloves, a hat... it was very very cold that morning. I started driving that way thinking of what i could use as a foreground element and I remembered those trees. I used to walk my dog by those trees. She passed away a few months earlier. People ask me what kind of animal made those tracks, I say probably a deer or a coyote. When I look at the picture I think those are her tracks walking into the sun.Editing
This is the result of 7 shots bracketed shots taken on a tripod. I loaded 5 of the raw files into photomatix to blend the exposures. I then did some saturation and curve adjustments in photoshop. In my camera bag
I travel with Canon 6D and a 24-70 f/2.8 II as well as 16-35 f/2.8 II lens. I also carry a 7dmkII with 100-400 for any wildlife i might happen across.Feedback
I use F/22 to get the starburst effect of the sun. Some lenses do a better job of it than others, my 16-35mm usually does a pretty good job. This was not my first composition. When I saw those tracks i said to myself "I wonder if they lead to the trees, and if the sun will line up" - I was pretty excited to see that they did.
