Regarding your comment about following in each other's footsteps, we will be camping for a week in Yellowstone in May, before we head up to Alaska again for the summer. Awesome place, great image.

Thank you very much! The lodges in Yellowstone are managed by the company I work for. So when I go I can get employee benefits.

Location
This is one of the thermals at Yellowstone National Park.Time
The time of day was early to late after noon in mid August.Lighting
I spent 18 days at Yellowstone. It was over cast to stormy clouds a lot of the time that I was there. This was one of the more sunny days.Equipment
Canon EOS Rebel T1I and a Sigma 18-250mm lens with Polarizer filter.Inspiration
I was able to get up high to be able to shoot down into the thermal. The water was very clear just the vapors presented a problem. My luck the wind carried the vapors away so I was able to get a clear shot.Editing
I used Lightroom 5 for post processing. Mainly to tweak the photo, shadows, blacks, highlights and whites. In my camera bag
During this trip due to the amount of hiking involved just the camera, Canon EOS Rebel T1I and a travel lens with a wide range Sigma 18-250mm and Polarizing filter. On my camera strap I have pockets for 2 extra batteries and extra cards. Lens cloth and brush for cleaning the lens.Feedback
Enjoy yourself, by that I mean, don't weigh yourself down with a lot of equipment. For me it is not very fun to lug it around. I was more into sight seeing than picture taking. But some of the sights just need to be captured.
