Behind The Lens
Location
Ringstad Vesterålen North Norway.Time
This was taken in what we call the dark time. That is when the sun does not rise above the horizon. That does not mean it is dark all day. The true is far from it. We get 5-7 hrs of light like this. This was taken about 3 in the after noon.Lighting
I wanted just enough depth of field so you can see the mountains in the background. Just enough light on the grass so it was not a silhouette.Equipment
D810 is my weapon of choice. In this case it was paired with my 105 macro lens. I use a good light tripod because I think creative photography really needs a good tripod to have the freedom to chose shutter speed and aperture at will.Inspiration
I was actually out to photograph the ice crystals that form on clear misty but cold days like this one today. This just caught my eye as I passed.Editing
I use capture one to process my raws. I like the software and in most cases it is all I need to use.In my camera bag
I have a wide selection of kit in my bag because I like photography. I also like to pass my knowledge on. I live in a fantastically beautiful area. Putting the two together I run courses in our guest house, using the arctic light and animal world for inspiration. To that end I have a lot of F2.8 lenses tripods flashes etc so I can show others how to use it all. I wholly enjoy macro work too.Feedback
Keep your eyes open as you move through the country side. Expect the unexpected. Use your kit in ways it is not meant to be used. Long lenses for landscapes and macro, wide angle for closeups etc.Just think outside of the box.
