In the West highlands of Scotland towering mountains and perilous pinnacles are not terribly unusual, however on this trip to skye the route I chose brought me past the stupendous Leathad Crithinn. The small croft in the foreground rightly so looks miniscule in comparison to the might of this massif. Using a 50mm lens with my cropped format camera gives me 80mm, which compresses the perspective enough to give the whole scene a slightly two dimensional feeling, this is perfect to exagerate the scale, not that it realy needed it. The clean light was bright and flat so contrast control was no big deal at all, leaving me to concentrate fully with ensuring pure sharpness. Shot in Raw format the same as all my work and converted in lightroom was an easy transition for this shot. The combination of Canon EOS 550d and the razor sharp Sigma 50mm ART lens gave me exactly the sense of resolution I was looking for. Shot at F-5.6 and 1-160th of a second again ensured edge to edge clarity.
