Location
This photo was taken in a B&B near my hometown. I chose this location for it's abundance of natural light. In contrast with that was a lack of space but we struggled throug. :-)Time
We took this picture in the early afternoon. Since we were inside working in directional but not direct sunlight, the light is rather soft even this time of day.Lighting
I went from being an 'always use flash' photgrapher to a 'nearly never use flash' over the years. Mostly because it really helps the continuity during portrait shoots and also because I opt for easy of work. This must have something to do with my age I guess ;-)Equipment
Camera: Canon 7d lens: Sigma 24 - 70mm 2.8 (wide open here)Inspiration
It was the work of a fellow photographer that inspired me. (Sorry I can't recall who that was) As many female photographers did during that time she also was putting poëtry and softness in her work. Because I mainly work with female models it's only fair that I should interest me in how woman approach portrait photography. There is a difference. We must embrace that and learn from each other, that's my point of view.Editing
I cleared up the skin a bit and I added some extra tinsel to the image. In my camera bag
I never leave home without having two lenses with me. Here it were a sigma 24-70 and a 70 -200. I also packed two tripods and some strobes to use later that day when sunlight was getting low.Feedback
I considered this shot as "B-roll" when I was taking it. As a bit of warming up for me and the model. She is not a professional, she doesn't even pose often. She did for me some time ago and I liked her personality so I contact her again for this shoot. With occasional model I find it good practice to start out with some laying - or sitting down poses, it takes the pressure of them to 'strike a pose'.
