I really hate my computer some days! The award I wanted to give your picture was "Superb Composition" NOT a "Peer Award"! So sorry! I think this has to one of the most perfect pictures I've ever seen!

A rain cloud scared everyone of the mountain but I got my gear out and waited. It was the best decision and I got to take some amazing shots of the cloud passing in front of the setting sun. It was quite a show and it was just for me. I hope you enjoy this photo as much as I enjoyed taking it.

Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken near Ciucas Peak in the Carpathians, Romania at the border between Transylvania and Walachia.
Time
I took this photo in the evening, at sunset. I hiked all day to find the perfect spot for the sunset photos and I found this place not far from the Ciucas Peak but far enough from the tourist tracks.
Lighting
Once I found a good spot and framed my composition I waited for that soft, beautiful sunset light. What I got instead was even more amazing :)
Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 5D Mark II and a Samyang 14mm f/2.8 lens on a tripod.
Inspiration
This was one of my most rewarding shots from last year. I was hiking all day looking for a good spot to shoot the sunset. Just when I found this perfect spot near the Ciucas Peak but far from the tourists, a storm cloud approached. You could hear the thunder getting closer an it started to rain. Everybody ran back to the cabin but I put my rain gear on an waited. It was the best decision I could make. In just 10 minutes the rain cloud passed over me and headed to the West. I had no idea how this will change my shot completely. Just as the sun was going down, the rain cloud passed in front of it offering me one of the most spectacular shots I ever took. And I was the only one there. I felt like nature put on this amazing show just for me. It was fantastic !
Editing
I used exposure bracketing to get all the frame exposed correctly and combined the 3 shots in Lightroom and Photoshop.
In my camera bag
I try to travel as light as I can. I usually take my trusty 5D Mk II, a Samyang 14mm f/2.8 or the Canon 16-35mm f/4, and a Canon 70-300mm L. I make sure to bring extra batteries and CF cards, filters and cleaning gear. I use a Manfrotto tripod and a mobile app for timelapse and long exposures.
Feedback
My advice as a landscape photographer is simple: Have patience. Sometimes nature can be unpredictable and no matter how well you prepare your trip and how many times you check the weather app it will always find a way to amaze you. Try to adapt and find a shot that works with the moment. You can take a good photo in almost any weather if you look for it.
