Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Montana while I was on vacation.

Time

This was right after we had walked around the town. I had seen a lot of statues similar to it, so I finally decided to stop. This photo was taken in the afternoon.

Lighting

The sun was pretty high when I took the picture and I liked the way it illuminated the dark statue.

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon Rebel Xsi with a kit lens.

Inspiration

I found it interesting to take photos of statues at different angles instead of straight on. I used the leading line of the gun barrel to make it more visually interesting.

Editing

I just changed the picture from color to black and white and increased the contrast to make it pop.

In my camera bag

Typically it is just my Canon Rebel Xsi and a kit lens with a polarizing filter.

Feedback

Try to put yourself in a weird position especially when it comes to statues to get the most interesting shot.
