Location
This was taken at a Raptor rescue center outside of Cincinnati Ohio.Time
The photo was taken between 8-9 AM.Lighting
The sun was just peaking over the forest trees, which highlighted the top of his head and right wing.Equipment
I used Nikon D3200 camera with a 55-300 mm lens. I shot this photo at 1/125 of a second so a tripod was not required.Inspiration
One of the camera clubs that I belong to set up this photography shoot to the rescue center would have photos for their annual calendar. We donated photos they would used for the calendar to help raise money for the center.Editing
This photo was shot in raw mode, so I did do some processing to create the jpeg image. Very little was done to this photograph apart from adjusting the contrast a little. The light was good and I had time to adjust the camera settings the way I wished, so most of the work was done on the front end.In my camera bag
I only have the one camera body (Nikon D3200). I have 2 lenses (1) 15mm-55mm and (2) 55mm to 300mm. I carry a polarizing filter for landscapes and water shots, a neutral density filter (usually for waterfall photos) and cleaning cloth, a remote trigger release when I choice to use a tripod.Feedback
As always try to shot during the time of day that will offer the best light options. This shot was taken in the morning before the sun got too high. Shot at different angles and be conscious of the composition of the shot. Try to imagine the finish shot before you take the photo. A little planning and awareness on the front end makes the finish product better and will prevent having to spend much time in post processing.
