This photo was taken in my backyard.Time
This photo was taken on a January (2015) at dusk.Lighting
This photo was taken at dusk in January so the lighting helped to provide a soft background.Equipment
This was one of the first photos I ever took with a digital camera. At the time I was using a Sony with limited features. The Sony camera had a built-in 35 to 200 MM lens. This camera did not capture the image in RAW, only Jpeg. I have since switched to Nikon and I shoot in RAW.Inspiration
We had just moved to Kentucky and we were amazed at the number of cardinals that are around here. I had just got the Sony camera and was getting use to taking pictures with it. I noticed a cardinal in one of our trees in the back yard, probably waiting to get to the bird feeder and I took advantage of the opportunity.Editing
There was little post processing done on this photo. As I mentioned the Sony camera I used did not capture a RAW image, so I believe the only adjustments were contrast. In my camera bag
What equipment do you normally have in your bag? Now I carry a Nikon D3200 camera with a 35-55 mm lens and a 55MM -300MM lens. I have several micro lenses and a polarized filter for each lens. I also have a Neutral Density filter, and a remote shutter fob.Feedback
This photo was not planned. I was simply getting use to a new camera and the cardinal was there and I was there. It appeared it was waiting to have his photo taken because after the shoot, he flew to the bird feeder. Planning is important but sometimes being there works as well.
