Location
The picture was taken at a friends (other photographer) house during a mini shoot event. From time to time I organize these gatherings, it's a nice way to meet other people with the same interest. Photography is a bit individualistic otherwise. We were two photographers and two models. The atmosphere is always relaxed and fun. Earlier I did a boudoir portrait session on the same location of that other (woman) photographer.Time
It was in the afternoon, probably around 14h30. It was sunny that afternoon, but still to chill to shoot outside.Lighting
I a big fan of shooting in natural light but I knew from the other earlier shoot it perhaps wouldn't be enough so I brought some small of camera strobes. I only used one as there was nearly sufficient available light.Equipment
The shot was taken from the hand with a Canon 7d and a Sigma 24 - 70 /2.8 lens. Probably wide open and zoomed in at 70mm.Inspiration
I have a bunch of classic photographers from the 70's, 80's and 90's who still inspire me even today. I like my pictures to have something simplistically honest about them. I'm not a big fan of advanced photo manipulation, I guess that is because of my early interest in photography back then. :-)Editing
Not much as I remember well I enhanced the effect of the light a bit where there already was. As usual I don't crop, I always compose the image in the shot.In my camera bag
I always take the same with me... My Canon 7d, both my lenses, Sigma 24-70 and 70-200 both at 2.8. One or two of camera flashes and most importantly my lightmeter.Feedback
I work with amateur models so it 's very important to communicate well about the desired results you want for them to understand haw to pose. I also give a lot of pointers for them while we're busy shooting and show them what we have so far. Although this was a amateur model she would do excellent as a professional, she has a good feel for the pose and it's like she knows how to "snap" in professional mode when we shoot... very concentrated. What I also do is examine the light on the scene and also talk about it with the model. The more she info she has about the desired result the better I guess. :-) In this particular shot the light is very important for the look and feel. That being said, I also let the model's style inspire me at the moment. Often that's better than working against her personal style.
