Location
VALLE AIRPORT is about 20 miles south of the GRAND CANYON. At this time, it was hosting a small air show as part of the Planes of Fame Museum.Time
I captured the shot about 1100 hrs.. This airplane was part of the small airshow (B-25 is from the Planes of Fames Museum).Lighting
Regular Arizona daytime "severe clear" sunlight.Equipment
My NIKON D 80 with NIKON 70-300mm lens. I had the lens set for 180mm. The camera was set for ISO 400; 1/90sec and F-27. The camera was hand held.Inspiration
I was watching a professional photographer take photos of these models and the airplane. He stepped aside to make some adjustments to his lighting reflectors and I asked if I could take a shot or two and he allowed me to take the shots. As I raised my camera to my eye, the models began to pose and I took this shot.Editing
No post processing, the photo is just as the camera saw the shot.In my camera bag
Today, I have moved up to a NIKON D7100 and a TAMRON 16-300mm lens. My primary subjects are things with motors: airplanes (special love); cars; motorcycles and some travel photography.Feedback
With today's more modern DSLR's, I would simply use the 'shutter speed' setting and allow the camera to do the rest. In my case, the opportunity to capture a shot is often limited due to people moving through the area of the subject moving, so I allow the camera to do as much as possible depending on the result I want to achieve.
