The photo was taken in SW Western Australia. I went to Sugarloaf Rock (Google it) to take some of the rock at dawn. I nearly got hit by a King Wave and decided to leave for safety reasons. I went back to the carpark over looking the rock and looked back East toward the sun rise and saw this magnificent view of the waves hitting the beach. I was a little concerned about shooting toward the rising sun and then noticed a Dolphin Pod circling, they were obviously fishing. They then started to play in the waves and for awhile I just stood there in amazement. I then remembered that I had a camera, pulled it up to my eye and tried to work out where they would next come up. I did not have my camera on continuous as I had been shooting scapes. I just waited and got this shot as they jumped the wave.Time
Just after DawnLighting
Into the sun but a nice even glow. No grads or other filters.Equipment
Hand held Olympus E30. 50 - 200 mm lens. F2.8 Shot at 200mm. shutter priority.Inspiration
The colour, the light, the wildlife, nature, I was on my own. It was a magical moment.Editing
The usual adjustments for a Raw file. A little crop and sharpening and thats about it.In my camera bag
Olympus E30, a 14 - 54mm lens, a 50 - 200mm lens, various grads, a polariser, an FL 50R flash unit, various batteries, cards, a rain coat for the camera (which I often forget I have) cleaners, sun cream, anti mossie bite, a first aid kit, condoms (good for rifle and lens protection lol) and a lot of stuff I could probably do with out.Feedback
Be observant, enjoy what nature has to offer, try and be one with it and remember that you are more likely than not carrying a camera lol.
