This photo was taken at my son's home in his kitchen area just before dinner time.Time
Our newest Grandchild was just three days old. We went by their home to visit and share our welcome gifts to the baby and his brother and sister. Around dinner time my wife was attempting to quiet a fuzzy baby. The look on his face says it all!Lighting
Because of the indoor lighting I needed to use my Sigma flash to bounce the light off the ceiling and my 50-200 mm telephoto. I did not want to use the on camera flash with a new born.Equipment
This was shot with my Pentax K-x and 50-200 mm lens and Sigma, EF-610 DG ST. I took the photo at 125 mm focal length, f/4.5, 1/00 sec, IOS 200.Inspiration
My goal that day was to capture some fun and hopefully unique photos of our new Grandson.Editing
I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 10. Since I shot the original in RAW format, I used this program to convert the file to jpg. I only needed to slightly adjust the light to tone it down.In my camera bag
In my camera bag I always carry my Pentax K-x and three lenses: a Pentax 18-55 mm and a 50-200 mm telephoto and a Sigma 70-300 mm telephoto. I also carry two Neutral Density filters and a circular Polarizer filter for two of my Pentax lenses and a couple of sets of backup batteries. In a separate case I carry my tripod.Feedback
Photographing children is always a process. You hope they will enjoy the time and have fun. With a newborn you just have to be ready and take an opportunity when it presents itself. My goal was natural and not staged photos. What ended up was a priceless face.
