I took this photo at one of my trips to Kenya, to b more precise to Amboseli.Time
the photo was taken during the day, the afternoon.Lighting
I took the photo at f/4.0, ISO 125< shutter 1/800Equipment
I used a D800 and a 600mm lens. No tripod, but a bean bag in the window of a Jeep.Inspiration
I love cranes. I followed the cranes to Linum in Germany, Extremadura and Tarifa in Spain, to Nebraska, to New Mexico, to Kenya, to Cambodia and to Bhutan. There are still a few places missing. I love the beauty of them and the Asian culture around them, the symbol of happiness and a long life.Editing
I used lightroom to turn in to a black and white picture. In my camera bag
Well, it depends very much on what I intend to do. When I go in the summer for a walk I always take my Nikon D5 with my AF-S Micro Nikkor 105 mm f/2.8 or a Nikon 200 mm macro, a lens I started to like more and more. Whenever possible I take my 600mm lens along. My favorite lens, but a little heavy.Feedback
Well, it takes time and patience and knowledge to take photos of cranes. Most of them migrate and you need to know , when they are going to be where. Sometimes you have to travel quite a bit. To see the cranes in Bhutan took days. To see the cranes in Africa is little closer, when you come from Europe. But I would be willing to travel anywhere in the world to see other species of cranes.
