Location
The Super Moon image was taken in the street in front of my house. The Celtic Cross was taken at an Episcopal Church yard in South Amboy New Jersey.Time
The Moon shot was taken roughly 9:30 pm in July. The cross was taken sometime between 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm.Lighting
The moon was a time laps shot of about 4 seconds. I used the self timer in the camera. The cross was taken in natural sunlight on a summer day in the afternoon of July.Equipment
The moon I did use a tripod for considering it was a time laps shot. The cross and moon were both taken with my Nikon D7100 and 18-140mm lens.Inspiration
The moon was because it was a Super Moon, I did what I could to capture it. The cross is simply beautiful and ornate. Combining the two was just an idea I had. Cannot really explain why, it just came to me.Editing
Of course, being a combination of two images. The moon I warmed up the color considerably due to the natural slightest orange in the clouds that night. The cross I had to cut-out of the original image and I gray-scaled it because I felt it enhanced the details in the cross. Had to paste the cross in over the moon image.In my camera bag
My Nikon D7100 camera, my 18-140mm lens and my 55-300mm lens. Two batteries, the charger and a/c cord, and the usb cable for computer hook-up.Feedback
For the most part, the moon was pot luck. I knew I needed to time laps the shot and of course, anything under 1/60 you do need a tripod. The idea of the image was just a stroke of luck to combine the cross onto the moon image.
