Location
I took this picture in my gardenTime
In mid afternoon full sun, good for shutter speed but very bad for shadows.Lighting
Yes to illuminate the spider I used a fill flash, because I was shooting toward the sunEquipment
I used a canon 7d with a 70-200mm f2.8 is II lens mounted on a fotopro tripod and filled in the light with a canon 430ex flash off camera using e-ttl -1 ev.Inspiration
I was actually testing a 2x teleconverter I had bought not to long ago it had great reviews especially when used with the 70-200mm lens I figured that it would be good since it focuses at the same distance but get twice the zoom but after the testing was done I got better images with no teleconverter.Editing
I did very little, a bit of saturation and sharpening in lightroomIn my camera bag
In my bag I have my 7d a 18-55mm, 70-200mm, 50mm,and a10-22mm lens 2 430ex flashes, 3 or 4 filters an graduate ND filter that I love a good tripod and a multi coloured reflector.Feedback
Be patient I took about 30 shots of this spider sometimes it was hiding in the leafs sometimes it was on the wrong side of the flower, I wanted a nice smooth background so I had to wait until the spider was in the right position and another tip, don't be afraid of a flash even in bright light, ounce you get the hang of it, it will be one of your favourite tricks, from macro to portraits and almost everything in between.
