This is Moxie. She is a four year old rescue - originally part of a criminal case out of Southern Oregon, and saved by the Oregon Humane Society. Her mange left her pretty nude - and she was believed to be a Brussels Griffon mix. Once her hair grew back, and we got her groomed, we suspected otherwise and got a doggie DNA test. She's 100% Shih Tzu and I can't stop laughing that I now have a silly designer dog. She's delightful. She's not the best model yet, but she was SO good - walked beautifully on her leash, no barking, no fear, just a good muppet.

Location
This was taken at the famous Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn, Oregon.Time
It was around dinner time, on the very last day of the festival, it was cloudy but still nice out. The fields were actually dry!Lighting
This is all natural light, clouds nicely diffuse sunlight.Equipment
This was taken with my Nikon D850, my Sigma 135 1.4 ART lens, and handheld.Inspiration
About ten years ago I took a photo of my pug running through these fields, and it won me a huge Travel + Leisure Magazine contest, and we got to go to South Korea as the prize. A friend of mine wanted me to try to get a similar photo of her dog at the tulips, and I brought along Moxie, just because she's cute.Editing
This is obviously cropped, and I did have to lighten her face a bit and slightly warm up the color balance. Otherwise, this one was a very simple photo to make and to finish. In my camera bag
For a big full day or a trip it's my D850, D800, three Sigma ART lenses (135, 50, 24), Nikon 80-400, two Nikon flashes (SB 900s), extra batteries, plenty of memory, chargers, phone and chargers, lens cloths, Snickers bar, sugar free gatorade. The D850 and my Sigma 50 or 135 are my favorite combo.Feedback
You cannot take enough photos of pets or kids. They are adorable models, but they're also usually on the move - so keep your eye on your depth of field and your shutter speed!
