I found this caterpillar in my garden. I do regular “Mini Safaries” in my garden every weekend to look for interesting photo subjects.Time
I found it in the morning sitting on a leaf.Lighting
I wanted the best light and a sharp image so I took it to my mini studio which I build on top of our garage.Equipment
I used a manfrotto tripod, a canon camera 5D Mark ll, a 100 mm macro lens and 2 studio lights.Inspiration
The amazing look of this animal, it’s color and his hair do !Editing
I actually wanted it sharp from front to back and photo stacked it by taking several pictures of front to back sharpness. But I saw later on the computer that it moved and so the frames didn’t stack up. So I had to be contend with a sharp head only.In my camera bag
It depends what my project is,my walk about lens is the canon zoom lens 24 - 100 mm. My favorite is the 100 mm lens because it’s so sharp.Feedback
For macro photography it helps to invest in a macro lens and a tripod. But one also must be patient.
