This photo of Max, one of our alpacas, was taken on our farm in Northern Michigan.Time
This photo was taken one overcast after afternoon in late Spring.Lighting
It was just another cloudy Spring day in Northern Michigan.Equipment
When I go out in to the pastures to take photos of our alpacas I almost always take my Nikon D3 with a 80-200mm f/2.8 lens.Inspiration
Max just has a great look about him. He is always so proper in how he stands in the pasture. He is also one of the more curious and brave boys and always comes to see what I am up to out there.Editing
This was really just a straight up kind of process on the computer. I may have fussed slightly with the contrast but other than that......In my camera bag
I carry my Nikon D3 or D3x in my bag with a wide assortment of lenses from my 14mm f/2.8, 17-35mm f/2.8, 35-70mm f/2.8, micro 105mm f/2.8 and my 80-200mm f/2.8. There is also a portable flash unit and a loop for viewing LCD images outside on the camera back. I also have extra batteries for my camera and for the flash unit. I also have some snacks for those long days shooting without a break.Feedback
For this shot it’s just spending time with the animals so that they are somewhat accustomed to me and my camera.
