Location
This photo was taken early one morning beside Lake Rotorua (NZ) while my family and I were on holiday. I'm relatively new to taking photos with a DSLR camera and had seen so many beautiful photos on Viewbug of the sun's rays streaming through clouds, so I saw the opportunity to take a shot.Time
This was very early in the morning just before 7am, in winter.Lighting
The lighting was supplied compliments of the sun :)Equipment
I used a Canon EOS 700D with my brand new Canon macro lens 100mm f/2.8 USM.Inspiration
It was a combination of wanting to try out my new lens, being inspired by the beautiful sunrise and trying to emulate some of the photos I had seen on Viewbug. It was only by accident that I caught a silhouette of my husband as he was walking along the waters edge, along with the seagull.Editing
It was only a few weeks before we took this trip that I learned about RAW. I developed the file through Lightroom initially using the auto settings, then tweaked the settings until I got the result that I really liked. In my camera bag
As I'm only a beginner, I only have my 700D along with the 18-55mm kit lens that came with it and a Canon macro lens 100mm f/2.8 USM. I have also just this week invested in a Canon RS-60E3 remote switch to help me eliminate camera shake when taking macro shots which I can't wait to try out.Feedback
One of the main reasons I managed to get this type of shot was due to a friend of mine telling me how early he got up to capture certain characteristics of daylight. I also spent a bit of time just looking around at the scene, mentally composing shots and then trying to translate them into what I saw through the viewfinder.
