This fissure in the cliffs was used as a sanctuary for villagers against warring factions. The razor sharp rocks prevented invasion from land and the rough seas prevented invasion from the coast. This fissure has its own fresh water chasm and direct access to the sea via a cave, as well as coconuts and white sand (which is sparse on this upraised atoll).
