Behind The Lens
Location
I took the photo when visiting my house (located in a little town Velka Bystrice, approx. 300 km far from Prague) where I was staying for a few days in the beginning of the summer 2015. The house (a used to be farm) has a courtyard with a little flower garden and the photo was taken right there.Time
It happened on June 29 at 15:28:17. The day was marvellous, a real summer day, sunny and pretty warm. After a lunch I took a short rest and then took my camera and entered the courtyard where the blue flowers attracted my attention.Lighting
The sunlight was pretty strong. Fortunately the flowers were in the shadow of a stone wall (separating my courtyard from the courtyard of my neighbour) where the light was not so strong.Equipment
My Sony Alpha MII with Sony Carl Zeiss 50mm, F1.4 mounted was used when taking the photo. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
When I entered the courtyard and looked around, the blue flowers climbing the stone wall and glowing in the shade attracted my eyes. Probably every photographer knows that "call of the wild" that invokes the desire of taking photos.Editing
Yes, I did - that's clearly visible and is the easier part of the answer. To answer the second part of the question it is necessary to say that I use Linux as the operating system and GIMP with many plugins and scripts as the editor. The main tool I used in this case was GIMIC. Unfortunately I do not remember the exact procedure of using GIMIC with some other plugins and scripts.In my camera bag
My bag is not very big, which means I just carry the lenses that could be the most useful ones. The outstanding Minolta 200 f2.8 is almost always therein, the aforementioned Sony CZ 50, f1.4, then the Minolta 100 f2 and Sony 16-50 f2.8 are also therein and all together form my basic stuff. The camera I use is the Sony A77II and newly A6300.Feedback
Well, from what I have described above it should be clear that the conditions under which the was taken are very common as beautiful flowers can be found everywhere. It is therefore quite difficult to draw any specific conclusions in such a case. One can just say: Keep your eyes (and mainly mind) wide open to see the beauty around!
