The photo was taken in the predators' house of Prague's ZOO.Time
I captured this photo on September 28, 2015, at 14:55. I wanted to take some photos of predators and therefore I headed first for the run of tigers. However, the tigers were not out and I had to go inside the house. They were lying on the floor of their booth, paying no attention to visitors watching them. When I was passing the booth, one of the tigers suddenly raised his head and stared at me. I stopped, made my camera ready, and stared at the tiger. He started to rise slowly, still looking at me. There was something in the air, for the people standing around me had fallen silent, stepped aside a little, and seemed to be waiting to see what would happen. I smiled at the tiger and took a few shots. The lady standing beside me said admiringly: Wow! He posed for you!Lighting
The lighting conditions inside the house of predators were not very good. Fortunately, the light inside the booth was quite good and the tiger was relatively well enlightened.Equipment
At that time I used the Sony ILCA-77M2 with the lens Minolta 200mm/f2.8. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
Perhaps every photographer has already visited a zoo and the number of situations that can be observed there is a powerful source of inspiration for both random and planned and thoughtful photography. From the above description of how I photographed the tiger, it's probably obvious that this case was an instant and accidental inspiration that arose from the situation.Editing
The post-processing in this case was quite simple. The main step consisted of developing the raw image and then a simple editing (like resizing, color adjustment, sharpening,...) was applied. In my camera bag
Now I have been using the Sony A7 Mark 3 for more than 2 years. As far as lenses are concerned, I have Sony 24-70/2.8, Sony 12-24/4, Sony Zeiss 55/1.8, and, if necessary, a lens like Minolta 200/2.8 or Sony 100-400/4-5.6 in my bag.Feedback
Taking a good picture of an animal is probably always a bit of a coincidence. Of course, it's good to have a plan in advance. However, the situation may suddenly change and then we need to react quickly.
