Location
This was taken in San Francisco during the Folsom Street Fair. I consider myself more of an urban photographer, just wandering around and photographing whatever catches my eye. The Folsom Street Fair (usually in October) is simply amazing but definitely adults only.Time
Probably a typical San Francisco afternoon . . . great light, probably overcast.Lighting
Straight up natural lighting, on the street, in the open. Doesn't get much better.Equipment
Just my handheld Canon Rebel . . . and a long lens.Inspiration
Obviously, the color of the mask caught my eye . . . but, as often happens, I didn't realize that I had caught her eyes and the fact that she was appearing to be looking right back at me. Those eyes.Editing
I am strictly a Lightroom user, I try to stay as true to the original image as I can. In this case, I think I may have cropped the image . . . but not much else.In my camera bag
My Canon Rebel and then the stereotypical stock lenses . . . I did recently purchase an 85 mm which I haven't adjusted to yet but hope to soonFeedback
Everyone will always tell you to shoot shoot shoot. I loved the street fairs because of the opportunities to shoot people, objects, foods, scenes, dogs, etc. Most of all, as in this particular shot, you won't always know what you've got until you process it later. I thought I had a good shot when I got this one, but it wasn't until later that I got to see it on the monitor that I realized what I had. As I say, if you take a 1000 images, one of them should come out great by accident. So keep shooting!
