Behind The Lens

Location

Taken at the Fillmore Street Jazz Festival in San Francisco which takes place around July 4 every year!

Time

Early afternoon, it was cold and there had been light rain off and on most of the day.

Lighting

Most of my images are spontaneous, urban photographs and I try my best to accommodate the light that is available. Clouds and shade are my best friend.

Equipment

Handheld Canon Rebel t6 with a stock long lens.

Inspiration

This is one that I didn't realize I had until later. The "blurred" effect behind the player is actually a plastic wall on the gazebo the musicians were playing under.

Editing

I'm strictly a Lightroom user. A little crop here, some contrast and exposure adjustments . . . nothing much.

In my camera bag

Most days its just the Canon Rebel T6 . . . I do have an 85 mm or a 50 mm I'll pull out depending . . . but usually stick to the 70-200. And oh yeah, don't forget a backup memory card and a battery.

Feedback

I've said it many times and have probably said it here . . . I joke that if I take a 1000 images, one fantastic image should come out by accident. This particular image was obviously intentional but it wasn't until later that I realized what all I had captured in that moment. I may have seen it in my head at the time but . . . as they say, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
