this photo was taken at home while I was dog sitting for my son ... Ari and I are the best of friends and we hang out together frequently ...Time
it was taken in the evening , I have a lamp by my bed and it creates a beautiful warm tone ...Lighting
I find playing with different light is the best way to learn what works best for each individual photographer , this also teaches us which light best suited for the shoot ... paying attention to details such as shadow , tone and what mood the light gives is also important to a shoot ...light is everywhere and we should never be afraid to create with it .Equipment
canon T3i .. 18-55 lens . hand held , no flash ... desk lamp for lighting in a dark room ..Inspiration
we were playing a game while I was on the computer .. Ari was laying next to me but sideways and every now and again I would peek up and he would be watching me , so I told him to stop looking at me and he would look up toward the light ... after a few times of this game I realized the soft glow illuminating has face , I keep m camera close by at all times and grabbed it , we played this game for quite some time and this was our final result .....Editing
not much was needed ... a light contrast boost and turned down the highlights a bit , softened it with luminance and clarity down a notch .... added a wee bit of sharpening around the eye and that was it ...In my camera bag
I now have two cameras , the T3i and the T5i , my 18-55 lens , my 75-300 lens and a sigma macro lens ... I have a led lighting Halo and batteries , filters , cleaning equipment , shutter release cable ,cards mini tripod , and monopod .Feedback
make sure the room is dark , there is no clutter and have the subject looking towards the light ... play with your settings until you get what your looking for ... the settings will vary depending on the type of light used and your camera type .. try to play with angle to get as much backlight as you can and always make it fun ... I never posed Ari ... I let him do it himself and by doing this it became a more natural look and we were both having fun
