The contrast is perfect, at first I thought it was a photo of a print on the wall, great capture of humans in there daily life.

Location
This photo was taken on Rome Metro's Circo Massimo station platform.Time
After a day spent exploring the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum and finding hidden Michelangelos, we joined the rush-hour throng and made our way to the underground platform to head back to our hotel by Central Station.Lighting
Being an underground platform the light was completely artificial, lending itself nicely to an edgy, harsh feel for the picture.Equipment
Taken on my beloved Pentax K3 with a Pentax-A 24mm F2.8 (a great city walk-about lens). The picture was taken at f2.8, ISO 400, no flash (I hate flash).Inspiration
That feeling of mutual discomfort and misery that emanates from each individual in the rush-hour crowd when everyone has to stand still together, their progress halted while they wait for or stand awkwardly in the train for a short while.Editing
A bit of playing in Lightroom to give a dirtier, grittier feel.In my camera bag
Pentax K3, Pentax-M* 300/4, a tiny Auto-Takumar 55mm F2.2 Zebra (very pocket-sized), Pentax-DA 14mm, a couple of ND filters, a foldup, mini-tripod and whatever my "Lens of the Day" is.Feedback
If you're going to take Candid shots of people in this kind of situation you need to be ready to shoot quickly as soon as you turn the camera towards them, if you take too long pointing the camera at them you will get a photo of annoyed people staring at you. Take a test shot away from the subject to get the exposure settings right before shooting the subject quickly.
