Location
I took this photo in Sintra, Portugal, the most western point of Europe.Time
It was about 11 AM.Lighting
It was a wonderful foggy morning on the mystical mountain Sintra. When the fog became thinner and the sun was peeking through, I started to take photos. This last remaining leaf caught some sunlight while the fog was still hiding the rest of the forest.Equipment
I have a Lumix DMC-TZ100, all my photos are taken with this little miracle of a camera... it shows that you don't need an expensive camera with a lot of equipment to make good quality photos. The best thing about this camera is that it has a good Leica lens and it is very easy to carry with you because it practically fits in your back pocket.Inspiration
I am fascinated by that last golden leaf, clinging desperately to a winter tree. The fog covering the mystical mountain of Sintra was slowly chased away by the power of the sun and the hazy light that colored the leaf was a little present! I tried to find an angle to show the relationship between the sleeping winter tree and the golden leaf, shining as never before.Editing
I did some editing in Lightroom to push the background even a bit further away and I lightened up the leaf slightly to enhance the contrast. I also gave some more clarity to the branches and twigs. In my camera bag

Take the time and effort to look around you and be surprised to find that one can take a nice photo in almost every square foot anywhere! Capturing wonderful shots is a matter of trying to look through a pinhole without forgetting the whole picture... Look around you and see that everywhere beauty can be found if you are willing to see it! Make sure the surrounding is free of distracting items, to achieve maximum focus on the details you want to show... If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one, once you get home and open your laptop when the magic of today's digital world begins... I always crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop and edit the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
