It's possible this bird has bad kidneys, or liver. I had a parakeet with bad kidneys. Since they were not filtering properly the body discarded excess waste through the beak and toenails causing them to grow too fast.

Wow...very interesting. I knew it had to be something like that but other than the deformity he seem to be perfectly healthy and was actually eating.

He's different...but kinda cute...as long as his survival isn't jeopardized! He is the Jimmy Durante of the bird world! ; ) Glad he looks healthy! : ) Great capture!
