Location
This photo was taken in a field near our house, in a rural area of Bowen, Whitsundays, in Australia.Time
This was taken in the very late afternoon just before sunset, to take advantage of the golden light.Lighting
My subject is facing toward the setting sun in this image which casts a nice golden glow all over the scene, no other light sources or reflectors were used for this particular shot.Equipment
I used my Nikon D3100, and a wide angle 35mm lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I was inspired to take this image of my daughter, who is a beautiful dancer, because of the Viewbug competition "Ballerinas and Dancers". I really enjoy how Viewbug competitons keep me inspired and thinking about what I would like to photograph next.Editing
I didn't use a lot of post processing, however I always check my photos in Adobe Lightroom. I like to check for exposure problems and any noise, there was not much to correct in this particular image. In my camera bag
In my bag I usually have my Nikon D3100 and three lenses. An 18-55mm, a zoom lens 70mm to 200mm, and a 35mm prime lens.Feedback
A graceful model was probably the most important element in this shoot, wearing a sheer fabric allows the costume to float and also for the light to shine through to the background. The other crucial element was the late afternoon light, and an uncluttered background. We were lucky enough to capture quite a few beautiful images from this shoot, I am very happy the Viewbug team thought it was worthy of a staff award. Thank you.
