Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken on a country road in rural southern Illinois on my way to work one day.Time
This was early in the morning, shortly after sunrise.Lighting
The fog and the angle of the sun made this shot. I just happened to be in the right place at the right light.Equipment
Nikon D300s, 14-24mm Tokina Lens, handheld.Inspiration
The way the sun was coming through behind the fog with the tree just visible really caught my eye. I had to stop, turn around, and go back just to take this shot.Editing
I converted the picture to black and white and I added some vignetting. In my camera bag
I like to carry my 50mm, my 14-24 wide angle, and either a 28-70 or a 18-140. I also usually have 2 camera bodies and one hot shoe flash.Feedback
As with so many photographs, being in the right place and the right time (light) is imperative. If you know the type of shot you want but the settings don't happen on your first, second, third, fourth, etc., try, then just keep trying. I had been driving through foggy days for over a month and had seen this tree in this field, but the "right" conditions didn't exist until this day and it really made the difference.
