Location
I took this photo in my friend's garage which she has converted into a photo studio space.Time
We were inside with studio lights so the time of day didn't impact me.Lighting
I believe we had just the one studio light - not on strobe - just on full from the side of the model.Equipment
I used a Canon XT with a macro lens at f2.8. I wish I had upped my F stop to get more of the candies in focus. I'm planning on recreating the shot and will do that and see if I can get a crisper result.Inspiration
I had been wanting to do a candy themed shoot for some time. This is my homage to the Rocky Horror Picture Show.Editing
I think all I did was a severe crop (which is evident) and then some sharpening. A judge once mentioned that I over smoothed the skin but I actually didn't do anything to it. I think the over smoothing effect is due to the severe crop and the fact that I was at f2.8.In my camera bag
I've recently upgraded my camera body to a Canon EOS 5D Mark III and so some of my XTi lenses no longer fit. So I'm working with a 50mm, 35mm, and one zoom lens.Feedback
I got lucky with the "candy drool" from lip to lip. But that proves that you take a bazillion shots and hope one is perfect.
