I like the shot but i wonder if a determined or serious facial expression may have suited more. Nice use of motion.

I could have used a bunch of facial expressions. I chose this one because it was fun, and it looked darn good. I appreciate your feedback, but I like to shoot how I feel. You should do the same. Thank you

Location
This shot was taken at Union 206 Studios in Virginia. The model is the talented and beautiful Leia Hilton. The Union 206 studio is one of my favorite places to shoot. It is wide open so you have lots of room to experiment.Time
I guess it was around 7pm before we got started shooting. She was such a joker we ended up doing some candid shots before the real shoot. This shot is actually captured as she was goofing around. I loved how it came out.Lighting
I am trying to remember what lighting setup we used. I think it was (2) soft boxes and one beauty dish. I know we used (3) Alien Bees.Equipment
For this shot I used my Canon EOS Rebel T5i. All the lighting was provided by the studio.Inspiration
I have shot a lot of models but haven’t really worked with a fitness model yet. Leia is one of the best fitness/sports model around so we booked a session. I must say that I was not disappointed. Her muscle tone is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to do 3 or 4 different poses and outfits so I would have lots of material to work with in post-production. I ended up with 3 spectacular images which I used to create some beautiful artwork with.Editing
I did a lot of post-production. This shoot gave me a lot to work with in Photoshop. These images where used to create some composite artwork so the post-production took about 2 hours for this piece. This had to have been one of my most productive photo shoots ever.In my camera bag
When I go out to shoot, I want to be ready for anything. So I bring a big and heavy camera backpack. In this bag I have the following: Cannon 5D Mark III, Tamron 70 – 200 Lens, Tamron 15 – 30 Ultra-wide angle Lens, Tamron 90mm Macro Lens, Canon 24 – 105 Lens, (2) Canon 600EX-RT, and the Canon ST-E3-RT. In my SUV I will have: (2) Flash stands, Large 7ft tripod, Small 4ft tripod, (2) umbrellas, and (1) 5-1 reflector.Feedback
If you have an idea in mind book the model you want to work with. If you have something envisioned in your head, pick the model that fits that vision. Don’t book a random model and expect the same outcome. The model has to fit your plan in order to work. I guess the point I am trying to make is; think about the project all the way through before beginning. You don’t want to spend a lot of time and money on something that ends up looking average. Dot your I’s and cross your T’s before making your creation and you will end up with something amazing.
