wow, fantastic detail and exposure in this fine macro. Good use of that excellent lens at f2.8!

Excellent capture. Love the details and textures caught along with the cuteness. :)

Exceptional macro photography for such a problematic depth of field to focus in, well done.😀

Location
This picture was in my neighbors backyard. We were getting ready to BBQ and were just talking. I looked at the tomatoes and saw this guy. It all started by make a salad ha!!!Time
It was late afternoon. By the time I got my camera he had eaten most of this leaf.Lighting
Afternoon available light. The plant was well lite and there were no leaves to get in the way of the light. I always wonder what a shot with a strobe would have been like..Equipment
I was using a 35 mm film camera with a 55 mm macro. I didn't use a flash or tripod. I didn't bring either as I was rushing to just get the shot while he was active.Inspiration
I love to shot anything. I like to see what's right in the world and try to express it in the photos I take.Editing
This was" as shot" no post processing at all.In my camera bag
I carry 3 bodies : Nikon D2X for speed and D800 for MP and have a backup D200 . My favorite lens are a 17 to 35 mm nikkor and a 24 to 300 mm Nikkor. I also carry a 60 mm macro. besides my basic lens I carry a 50mm f1.2 nikkor and a 24 mm f2.8 nikkor. On occasion I carry a 150 to 500 mm Sigma. I have a remote shutter release, a few filters like a ND variable and coker system as well as a polarizing filter. on the side of my bag I carry a Tripod.Feedback
I do not carry my camera enough but since I have been on VB I have learned to see things that I missed before. I take way more picture now that I use digital gear. Sometime things you would not normally think of shooting are the ones that come out best. I shot this picture because it was something I had never tried and had just bought the macro. Best advice is Shoot Shoot Shoot and Do not forget to take your eye off the camera and look around you.
