I have never seen this Mark! Gorgeous capture! Guess there is some benefit to defaulting our galleries to most viewed! Okay - it's actually annoying but if your gallery hadn't defaulted there - I wouldn't have seen some of these! lol Stunning!

Location
This photo was taken at Goose Lake adjacent to Gold Lake Rd off of Highway 49 near the small mountain town of Sierra City, California.Time
This was at approximately 4:30 in the afternoon.Lighting
The shot was taken using available lighting. The sky’s “sunset” color was due in large part to the massive Rim fire that was burning near Yosemite, California at that time. Sadly, this destructive fire burned for several weeks, the only benefit being the incredible sunsets due to the particulates in the atmosphere.Equipment
Photo was taken with a Nikon D800 and a 28-300mm Nikkor lens that was stabilized using a lakeside tree stump. It was captured at f/5, ISO 800, 1/100 at 28mm.Inspiration
While making my way home after a day of photography in the surrounding mountains, I noticed the sky getting progressively more colorful. I knew I only had a few minutes to capture the color, and fortunately this lake is close to the road so access was easy. An approaching storm served to intensify the color!Editing
The only post processing was a small amount of cropping due to unattractive broken branches on the adjacent tree and some minor color correction. In my camera bag
Nikon D800, D500 and/or D850; I also pack several lenses: a 28-300mm, 105 macro, and a 17-35mm, all Nikkor; I also carry a Sigma 150-600mm zoom that I use for birds and other wildlife. I also keep a remote shutter release, 6 extra batteries, extra memory cards and cleaning supplies in my bag at all times.Feedback
Most people often look for perfect weather when setting out on a photography expedition . But it’s worth bearing in mind that clouds and incoming storms can add much-needed drama to your landscape subjects. Make sure you’re prepared! And remember... it’s really all about the outdoor experience!
