Location
This is taken in Gruyere, Switzerland, from within a tower of castle Gruyere looking out at one of the other castle towers.Time
The time of day is around 12.00 am, but for this image because of the overcast sky and the fact that I am taking the image indoors, the time of day is not so important. If the sky had been clear and a bright sunny day that may well have been different.Lighting
Because the image was indoors and only lit by window light it was very dark and required a slow shutter speed, therefore it was necessary to take another image outside of the sky.Equipment
My old Samsung GX10 with a sigma 12-24mm lens, no flash, no tripod or any other support. I had to take the image by composing approximately and then holding the camera against the wall to to resist any movement of camera and lens during a slow shutter capture.Inspiration
The perspective and innovative composition of taken one image from within a tower of another tower which I thought would also look great in mono due the contrasty nature of the scene.Editing
I processed and turned it to B & W in LR. Then exported to Photoshop to finish any tweeking and mask in the sky from another image taken outside in layers. In my camera bag
My camera bag now has the Pentax K3, 12-24, 16-50, 50-135 and 50 f1.8 Pentax lenses, plus my sigma 70mm macro lens and a couple of old but still very good Tamron adaptall lenses. Always spare memory cards and battery. I generally use a Gitzo Monopod but also have a Giotto's CF-Tripod with Induro ball head, nodal rail and cable release.Feedback
The words Composition, Composition, Composition etc comes to mind so always be on the look out for composition and different perspectives, but most importantly something that moves you at the emotional level and never rush, slow down and try different angles and perspectives and when happy look to try and minimize any camera movement using any method to hand e.g. in this I used the wall to steady my camera and lens.
