Location
I took this photo at Maeda Flats beach in Okinawa, Japan.Time
SunsetLighting
The clouds and the shading effect of the coral outcropping required me to play with the settings a bit.Equipment
Canon 40d, canon efs 55-250mm lens, and a small tripod. I had biked to the beach on a whim, so I didn't have a lot of gear on me.Inspiration
I mainly went to the beach just to think, and I had thought maybe I would take a few golden hour and sunset photos. When I saw the trajectory of the sun would take it behind the opening in the outcropping I knew I had to stay to capture it.Editing
No post processingIn my camera bag
I've changed my setup recently to be more minimalistic, and I no longer have the camera I shot this with (Canon 40d). I now carry my Canon 7D mkii with a Tamron 16-300mm lens, an extra battery, a cleaning cloth, and a micro tripod.Feedback
Timing and patience is everything. If it looks like a good shot will be possible after a while, be willing to wait. And carry an extra battery!
