Location
On a misty morning, in central Florida, at a lovely horse farm, I was bringing in one of the big horses, before getting to play with the foals that day. I was lucky enough to be in the paddock next to this one, and experience this magical lighting, so perfectly aimed for a photo. I grabbed my cell phone and started clicking off, as the horse grazed contentedly. I obtained several lovely shots of the light filtering through the trees in the light fog.... this was one of my favorites.Time
We'd had several foggy mornings in row, however, I'd not been in this particular area of the farm right at this time. It's probably about 9AM. in some different areas of the farm, I'd gotten some really pretty 'tree shots', with different light from the sun behind them..... some in the fog, too. When I got out into this paddock, I couldn't believe my luck..... it was surreal.... like something from a fairy tale movie..... what a lovely morning this was!Lighting
The lighting was strictly the beauty and magic of Mother Nature. I could not, would not have done anything that could have enhanced what played out before me.Equipment
This was shot with my Motorola Droid 4 phone camera..... no flash, no lens, no special anything except my special luck to be in the right place at the right time!Inspiration
When I looked over into the adjacent paddock, it appeared to be an entirely different world than the open one I was in...... little spotlights on the ground, fog, filtered light, grazing horses..... I was in awe and just knew that I had to stop right then and take photos of the world beyond.Editing
I did a little cropping, to get the sun and the horse in the 'right' places, but everything was otherwise where it needed to be.In my camera bag
I'm still looking for the camera I always want to have in my bag..... so, I'm still carrying the Droid 4 cell phone...... so far, so good, but my research continues and I will make a decision by Christmas..... if anyone needs suggestions for gifts at that time. :D I've since 'upgraded'......carry a Moto Z Play Droid......Just got a little Coleman underwater to carry kayaking and beach playing.....I'll post results when I have some.Feedback
My best 'advice' is to keep your eyes and mind open to the possibilities. If it interests me enough to point my camera at it, it most often turns out to be an interesting photo..... not always 'pretty' or 'glamorous', but somehow interesting. Something like this shot is either from patience and knowing the place you're shooting, or just plain luck, like mine. Best of luck with YOURS!
