The image was taken on our way to the Isalo Nationalpark in Madagascar. Due to the absence of rainfall, the grass in this area was extremely dry. It was the largest bushfire, but also the most beautiful one, we saw on this day. When the man in the picture decided to run directly to the fire, I took my camera and captured this distinct moment. Because of the heat, the birds of prey look like ghosts, which gives the photograph a very peculiar and mythic look. The additional image blur comes from the closed side window of our car. The intentions of the man were unclear to us.
