This monarch Caterpillar will eventual form a cocoon and become a butterfly, live its entire life, lay eggs, and die all on this one tree. It is a life cycle tree and to the best of my knowledge there are only two of these trees in all of Hawaii. It is quite a sight to see all the butterflies and caterpillars, eggs and cocoon all in one place.
