Black Peters are Sinter Claus's elves in the Netherlands. Over the years there has been much discussion about the practice of the Dutch dressing in black face. There version of Santa Claus does not live in the North Pole but rather in Spain. The elves called Black Peters represent fallen angels birded by the fires of hell. The Black Peters are the ones who distribute gifts or coal to the children depending upon whether they were good or bad.. Camera: Nikon CoolPix E950

This was shot with a 2 MP camera and was extensively reworked in PSCS6 Extended using Picture Postcard Workflow to wring out the very best image I could produce with the file. This included some channel swaps and LAB blends to control noise and replacing the background with another image from the parade that this image was taken from.
