There was a small marshland preserve called Laguna Nimez that was in walking distance of our hotel. Since we had the morning free before we flew to Buenos Aires, I decided to check it out even though I had no long lenses with me. That was too bad as this was a beautiful place to capture wildlife images. So I just decided to take in the scenery and take the best images I could with what I had.

We were in the Calafate area of Argentina. There was a small marshland preserve called Laguna Nimez that was in walking distance of our hotel. Since we had the morning free before we flew to Buenos Aires, I decided to check it out even though I had no long lenses with me. That was too bad as this was a beautiful place to capture wildlife images. So I just decided to take in the scenery and take the best images I could with what I had. .Time
It was 10:54 AM and sunnyLighting
The lighting was amazing, with a warm golden color, blue sky's and lots of clouds.Equipment

Since I just had my 85mm with me I was focusing mostly on landscape, but trying to get some animals and insects as well. When I got here, we were trying to avoid the wet lands and taking paths on solid ground. The view had it all, birds on the water wonderful light, dramatic sky. It is one of my favorite images from our Patagonia trip.Editing
At the time I was still using Nikons Capture NX2 to do my processing. I had a standard process I would go through that took me from global to local adjustments. The focus was on maintaining detail and color without overcooking the file.In my camera bag
I no longer have the D700 used here, but I still have the 85mm. Then I had a whole different kit. Today my basic kit which gets adjusted depending on what I am shooting is a 24-120, 300 mm f/4 with TC's and my 16 mm fisheye. I sometimes will carry my 17-35 mm or the 85 mm.Feedback
Going here was a spur of the moment idea. We were leaving soon, but the area was close so I decided to explore. If I had just hung around the hotel. I would have missed it all.
