Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on an Icelandic horse farm. I loved how the owner interacted with all her horses and thought it would make a great photo.

Time

It was taken in the morning and the day was slightly overcast at times.

Lighting

I felt that the overcast of the day allowed a great mixture of tones to be adapted into the photo.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D3400 and a 70-300mm lens...which I use for the majority of my photos. I like being able to be distant, but still be close from the lens.

Inspiration

My inspiration came from the interaction between owner and her horses. There is a unique relationship between horse and human.

Editing

I did perform some post-processing on the photo. My main objective was to give it a mix of sepia and B & W effect. I ran a couple of presets that offer this effect...then made minor tweaks to the contrast, shadows, highlights...

In my camera bag

Mainly just carry my camera, kit lens and zoom lens that I mentioned before.

Feedback

Just be patient and you will be able to capture the image you desire. I usually take multiple shots...especially when dealing with animals. And found that within those shots taken, there will be images that just talk to me.
