Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at a local landmark where I live now. During the winter months, there is an influx of water that flows from the river, which produces some beautiful opportunities, for great photos to be taken.

Time

I can't recall the precise time that the photo was taken, but I think it was in the morning or early afternoon. There weren't any people around at the time, so it made it a perfect time for taking photos.

Lighting

I was trying to take the photo at a time of day that the sun wasn't too bright. As past attempts in broad daylight, made the photo exposure too bright. But luckily for me, there was an overcast to the day, that provided just enough light, without the overexposure.

Equipment

This photo was taken with a Nikon D3400. I used the fence line post as my tripod, to assist in keeping the camera still, as much as possible.

Inspiration

As I am still an amateur photographer, I wanted to try taking long exposure photos. I had attempted in the past but hadn't accomplished the effect that I wanted. I was fortunate, that there was a decent flow of water, to allow me to achieve what I had set out to do. And that the lighting was also good

Editing

I took this photo in the RAW format so that I could just do minor edits. I didn't think that it really required a lot of editing, to begin with.

In my camera bag

I just have my camera, filters, battery, and lens (18-55mm & 70-300mm). I don't carry much as I don't really have a lot of equipment yet, because I am still learning.

Feedback

The only advice I can offer, seeing as I am an amateur, is to choose the location and take a few photos until you are satisfied with what you are trying to achieve. Don't settle on just one angle, try different angles, and move around, so that you can get the perfect shot.
