This Black Swan was enjoying it's early morning swim. I was walking the track at a location called Lake Pertobe, where I live - When I came across this swan. Luckily for me, I was able to get fairly close to it without disturbing it's swim. If you notice there are water droplets on it's feathers, where the swan had been dunking it's head under the water in search of food, I presume. It was a great morning for a stroll and photographing this swan.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at Warrnambool's Lake Pertobe. It is filled with birdlife of all species for this Region. As I was strolling along the pathways, I came across this swan, as it gracefully swam on the lake. I was both captivated and intrigued by its beauty.

Time

This photo was taken in the early morning. It was quite chilly, but the cold weather didn't seem to phase this swan as it swam gracefully and search for a meal.

Lighting

I wasn't paying much attention to lighting, as the day was overcast, with only slight bouts of sunshine.

Equipment

I actually took this photo on a digital camera, as I didn't have my Nikon DSLR camera with me. But I feel it did a pretty good job and produced a very nice photo in the end.

Inspiration

I find swans to be very graceful birds. When I saw how the droplets of water shimmered on its feathers, I knew I just had to take the photo.

Editing

I don't think any post-processing was made on this photo.

In my camera bag

I usually carry my Nikon D3400 DSLR camera, but on that day I only had my digital camera on hand. Mainly because the camera is smaller and more compact than my DSLR. I also carry my two lenses when I have my DSLR, a kit lens 18-55mm and my zoom lens 70-300mm.

Feedback

The only advice is to be patient and try to work with them. Also, staying quiet and treading lightly, will show that you don't mean to harm your subject...in this case the swan...in any way.
