Location
I took this on the Pacific coast near Bodega Bay, CA.Time
It was very late in the day, sunset was imminent.Lighting
The coastline spot is a wonderful place for gorgeous sunsets. I took many shots that day. This was was before the color emerged in the sky, but it gave me an awesome silhouette.Equipment
Sony Nex-6 with 17-55mm lens.Inspiration
This location is quite popular for me to congregate near sundown because of the awesome sunsets that often happen. The boy and his dogs were on a slight mound right at the edge of the cliff. The dogs were muzzled pit bulls, which drew my attention. I took about 5 shots of them and then continued to move around the area.Editing
I increased the contrast somewhat to create more of a silhouette. That's about it.In my camera bag
I normally carry my gear in a shoulder bag. I usually have in there a Sony Nex-6, 17-55mm, 14mm, 5-210mm and fish eye lenses, cleaning materials, extra batteries and memory cards and a bean bag for stabilizing. I often put the bean bag on a fence post or maybe the car's window ledge, or even the hood of the car.Feedback
Here, a beautiful sunset was coming, but there were many people standing between me and the sunset. So I just decided to include people in the shots. Everyone is there to photograph the scene, so no one pays attention and you can include them in the scene.
